At a time when the country is in the middle of a pandemic it is certainly good to be diverted by the prospect of the return of those events that were once certainties in the British calendar – none more so than the tennis championship at Wimbledon. In preparation for the return of the tournament in 2021, J P Dunn Construction Ltd have been appointed to carry out substructure and landscaping for the Gate 20 compound project on behalf of Knight Harwood.

The Gate 20 compound is part of the new Media Pavilion and Technical Service Room scheme. The Gate 20 compound houses plant, material and nursery items out of championship and facilitates the secure storage of media and service lorries and vehicles whilst the club is hosting the annual tennis tournament. Works include for strip out and removal of existing soft landscaping, hard landscaping, foundations and retaining walls; reduced level dig and Type 1 filling to new levels; RC retaining walls; the housing of new accreditation and security huts; new tarmac, block paving and granite works to areas of hardstanding

Works commenced in October and are being managed by Steve Cashin.
