JP Dunn Construction completed the first phase of works on the P5K Greenwich development — a 5km long elevated running track that forms part of a transformational placemaking scheme on the Greenwich Peninsula.
Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with London-based Neiheiser Argyros and landscape architects GROSS MAX, the project was conceived as a linear riverside park, blending art, nature and infrastructure. Known as *The Tide*, the space features works by artists including Damien Hirst, Allen Jones, Morag Myerscough, Heather & Ivan Morison, GERONIMO and Gaz Coombes.
JP Dunn’s works included the construction of bridge foundations and extensive hard and soft landscaping across both ground level and the elevated track. These elements contribute to the Peninsula’s urban regeneration, helping to enhance connectivity, usability and quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
One of the most iconic elements delivered by JP Dunn was the in-situ concrete lift shaft, designed with twisting faceted sides and cast to a special finish. Given the geometry and complexity, formwork panels were pre-fabricated off-site to ensure exacting tolerances and deliver the high-quality surface required by the design team.
Delivery was highly complex due to the site’s location above and around London Underground (Jubilee Line) assets. A dense network of existing services and below-ground obstructions further increased the challenge. Careful phasing and service coordination were essential throughout, ensuring no disruption to transport infrastructure during construction.
