Apprenticeship in Plant Maintenance

J P Dunn Construction have an opportunity for an apprenticeship in plant maintenance. This will be a three year commitment based at our Plant Yard in Woking. The duration will be three years incorporating 25 weeks training plus on-the-job experience as the assistant to our senior fitter.  Residential training will take place NCC Norfolk with 16 weeks in year one and 9 weeks in year two. This formal training will cover all the basic principles you need to learn to become a plant mechanic and work on the engineering team of a plant or plant hire company. In between, you will be developing work-based skills and knowledge whilst working at Woking. All costs of training and residential costs whilst at college will be paid for by the company.

You’ll learn how to service and repair machines and equipment, including replacing parts and checking, and calibrating instruments. You’ll study everything from basic engineering skills to the latest technological advancements in electro-hydraulics and computerised control systems.

The recommended qualifications are four GCSEs (grade D or higher).

To help us assess your suitability for the course, you’ll need to –
1. Complete a skills learning exercise and possibly attend the college for further tests.
2. Complete a questionnaire and take part in an informal discussion.
3. Complete a three month probationary period at Woking.
