JP Dunn Construction were awarded the groundworks, reinforced concrete frame, and external works contract on the University of London’s new flagship Library and Student Services Centre at Royal Holloway University, Egham. This state-of-the-art facility is situated opposite the College’s iconic Founder’s building, opened by Queen Victoria in 1886.
The building brings together Royal Holloway’s Careers centre, a range of student services, shops and cafés, and a dedicated study area for PhD students. It also provides purpose-built storage for the College’s art, archives, and special collections.
The groundworks package included 8,300m³ of muck away and a Grade 3 waterproof basement.
The RC structure comprises four floors with exposed concrete soffits, special finish circular columns, and a feature staircase.
Drainage works included installation of two attenuation tanks, rainwater harvesting tanks, resin-bound permeable paving, Indian sandstone paving, RC retaining walls, and street furniture.
