Project Overview

JP Dunn Construction Ltd was appointed as principal contractor to undertake the demolition and reconfiguration of outdoor tennis courts and associated infrastructure at the prestigious Queen’s Club in West London.

This high-profile two-phase development aimed to modernise and enhance the outdoor court facilities while respecting the site’s international reputation and proximity to local residents.

Key Features

Groundworks

Works commenced with the demolition of the existing courts and practice areas, including the removal of hard surfaces, fencing, and equipment. Temporary protection was installed to preserve existing trees and vegetation.

A replacement boundary wall was constructed with an additional access point and associated tree planting. The southern Plexi Courts required reduced level dig prior to resurfacing, ensuring alignment with dual gate access from Greyhound Road.

Subsequent works included the installation of below ground drainage, manholes, and a rainwater harvesting tank. Geotextile and geogrid reinforcement systems were laid in preparation for surface finishes.

High quality materials were specified throughout the project, both for the new court finishes and landscaped areas, reflecting the club’s premier sporting status.

Liaison with Residents & Club

Given the Queen’s Club’s central location and active member base, JP Dunn placed strong emphasis on minimising disruption. Close coordination with both local residents and the club itself was key to ensuring smooth phasing, safe access and continued club operations during construction.
