About the role (SENIOR SITE ENGINEER)

The Senior Site Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering delivery on site, ensuring that setting
out is accurate and that all works conform to design specifications. They supervise engineers and ensure
technical compliance, provide support to site management, and oversee quality control procedures.

Responsibilities (SENIOR SITE ENGINEER)

  • Manage setting out and engineering control activities for the project.
  • Supervise junior and assistant engineers, reviewing and checking their work.
  • Monitor junior engineer training plans and assist in developing their key attributes
  • Liaise with structural and design engineers for technical queries.
  • Maintain accurate records of as-built information, surveys, and technical reports.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities meet quality and specification standards.
  • Support Site Manager and Project Manager in technical aspects and programme control.
  • Assist in preparing RAMS and ensure work is executed in line with method statements.
  • Monitor health and safety on site and lead by example.

Candidate requirements (SENIOR SITE ENGINEER)

  • NVQ lvl 6 or Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ site engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Total Station, and GPS equipment.

  • Ability to draft site specific ITP and maintain throughout works.

About the role (SITE ENGINEER)

The Setting Out Engineer is responsible for the accurate positioning of structures and services on-site. This
role is crucial in ensuring that works are built exactly to plan, within tolerance, and in compliance with all
quality and technical standards. This role involves working closely with the foreman, supervisors, and
subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of construction milestones.

Responsibilities (SITE ENGINEER)

  • Accurately set out all aspects of the works, including but not limited to pile caps, column
    starters, retaining walls, drainage lines, ducting, stair cores, and slab edges.
  • Maintain, transfer, and re-establish site control including benchmarks and traverses.
  • Record and report as-built measurements using surveying equipment and generate
  • AutoCAD drawings for submission.
  • Communicate clearly with trades to explain line, level, and datum.
  • Support the Senior Engineer by providing accurate layout and levels for all trades,
    identifying clashes before works commence.
  • Liaise with site supervisors and plant operators to avoid dig/excavation conflicts.
  • Pre-mark formwork and reinforcement positions with high accuracy.
  • Conduct cube sampling and logging in concrete pour logs.
  • Take and process digital site photos, measurements, and sketch plans.
  • Assist in resolving site-based engineering problems with creative and compliant
    solutions.

Candidate requirements (SITE ENGINEER)

  • NVQ lvl 6, HND/HNC or BSc in Civil Engineering.
    CSCS Blue or Gold card for Engineers.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in RC frame and/or groundworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of Leica TS16, TS12, or equivalent.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and construction survey software (e.g. LSS).

About the role (ASSISTANT ENGINEER)

The Assistant Engineer is an entry-level engineering position designed for those starting their career in civil
engineering. The role is to support the senior engineering team with site surveys, documentation, QA
checks, and the basic setting out of less complex items. The Assistant Engineer is expected to observe,
learn, and gradually develop the competencies necessary for more advanced engineering roles.

Responsibilities (ASSISTANT ENGINEER)

  • Assist with primary and secondary setting out under supervision, including drainage, kerb lines, and pad foundations.
  • Help maintain QA records including daily diaries, concrete cube logs, pour records, and material
    checklists.
  • Learn to operate total stations, levels, and GNSS equipment accurately.
  • Maintain digital records, CAD updates, and printed layout plans.
  • Aid in the coordination of trades by passing on engineering instructions.
  • Shadow engineers during inspections, coordination meetings, and design reviews.
  • Learn to read construction drawings, reinforcement schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Help generate as-built surveys and site layout sketches.
  • Participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Observe and document issues such as clashes, dimensional errors, or site hazards.

Candidate requirements (ASSISTANT ENGINEER)

  • NVQ level 3 ONC/HNC in Civil Engineering or pursuing a BEng/MEng.
  • CSCS Trainee or Graduate card.
  • 0–2 years’ experience on construction sites preferred.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, basic AutoCAD, and data management.
  • Motivated to develop technical and practical skills in a live site environment.

 

About the role (DOCUMENT CONTROLLER)

The Document Controller is responsible for the organisation, maintenance, distribution, and archiving of all project documentation. This includes drawings, specifications, RFIs, technical submissions, and site
correspondence. The role ensures project teams work with the most up-to-date and approved information.

Responsibilities (DOCUMENT CONTROLLER)

  • Set up and manage electronic and hard copy document filing systems in accordance with
    company policy.
  • Receive, log, and distribute project drawings and documents to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date drawing registers, version control, and revision logs.
  • Support the project team in the preparation and submission of RFIs, method statements, and site
    diaries.
  • Interface with consultants, subcontractors, and clients to receive, track, and issue controlled
    documentation.
  • Manage online CDE platforms such as Viewpoint, Aconex, or Asite.
  • Assist in the handover process by compiling health & safety files, O&M manuals, and record
    drawings.
  • Monitor document review processes and notify team members of upcoming deadlines.
  • Ensure site teams work from the most current documentation and issue updates as necessary

Candidate requirements (DOCUMENT CONTROLLER)

  • Minimum 0-2 years’ experience in a document control or administrative role in construction
  • CSCS card (Basic Operative or Admin category)
  • Basic Familiarity with document control software and file-sharing platforms.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and cloud-based document systems
